Massive Engineering Project underway in New Providence at the Sporting Complex.

The Bahamas Society of Engineers (BSE) is a multi-disciplinary learned society mandated to improve the state of engineering in the Bahamas and consequently promote the health, safety and welfare of its citizens.

The Bahamas, being an archipelagic nation of 700 islands located just southeast of the Florida coast, has engineers involved in many and varied activities.

Engineers in the Bahamas are important in the development of this nation, serving a population of just over 300,000 persons while at the same time catering to approximately 5 million visitors annually. This means that engineers are key players in the economy ensuring that the electrical, water supply, sewage disposal, transportation, telecommunications and the like are developed to meet the demands of this rapidly growing economy.

All this must be done in the backdrop of a country that is challenged by an annual hurricane season that poses threats of flooding, structural damage and possible weakening of electrical and telecommunication infrastructure. As Bahamians are a seafaring people, our engineers are relied on to construct safe seawalls, docks and bridges that positively impact trade between the islands and help to protect our many coastal settlements.

BSE seeks to bring together the engineers in the various fields to ensure that the highest standards of practice are maintained in the Bahamas.
